Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy (CEDS)

What is an Economic Development Strategy?

An Economic Development District (EDD), or District Organization, is a federally designated organization charged with the development, maintenance, and implementation of a Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy (CEDS). The Golden Crescent Regional Planning Commission (GCRPC) carries and maintains this designation for the seven-county region.

What is CEDS?

A CEDS lays out a region’s economic development priorities, goals, and the strategies to meet those goals. The GCRPC CEDS serves as the reference framework for economic development throughout the seven-county region. The GCRPC CEDS is required and utilized by federal agencies, (i.e. U.S. Department of Commerce, Economic Development Administration (EDA)) to evaluate and approve requests for grant assistance. Maintaining an EDA approved CEDS ensures the continued eligibility of regional partners for Economic Development Assistance Grants.
