Program Overview

Golden Crescent Recycling is a recycling program that will provide seven counties, (Calhoun, DeWitt, Goliad, Gonzales, Jackson, Lavaca and Victoria) 22 school districts, and 73 campuses with a convenient way to recycle. Golden Crescent Recycling will increase reclamation of recyclable waste while engaging students in environmental stewardship.

How to Promote Recycling at Your School


Calhoun County

Calhoun County Recycle Center and Citizen Collection Center.

From U.S. Highway 87 go north on Westerlund Grade Road to Old Landfill Road
(about 1 mile) turn left on Old Landfill Road.

Hours: Monday thru Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m., Saturdays, 8 a.m. to noon

DeWitt County - Cuero

Location: U.S. Highway 87 south across from Wal-Mart

Hours: Monday through Saturday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

DeWitt County - Yorktown

Location: 500 Block South Riedel Street

Hours: Wednesday , 8 a.m. to Noon.

  • Oil filters (fee: 25-50 cents)

Goliad County

Location: 617 South Burke City Warehouse, Yard and Recycling Center

Hours:  Monday - Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday 8 a.m. - 12 noon

Goliad Recycling Center

  • White office paper with only black ink, computer paper, green bar paper and blue bar paper
  • Motor oil  - limited to not more than 5 gallons per visit, must not be contaminated.
  • Aluminum cans, rinsed
  • Steel/tin cans, rinsed
  • Clear, brown and green glass
  • HDPE#2 - Translucent milk, water and cider jugs.
  • HDPE#2 - Colored plastic bottles narrow neck only
  • PETE#1 - Clear and colored soda bottles narrow neck only. Remove caps, labels okay 

Gonzales County

Location: 1920 St. Joseph Street behind DPS Building in Gonzales
1800 block of St. Lawrence by School Bus Barn Entrance in Gonzales

Hours: Monday thru Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m

Fayette County Recycling Center in La Grange

Materials Accepted
  • Motor oil and oil filters
Check Yellow Pages for privately-operated Recycling Centers that will take paper, aluminum cans and other materials.


Jackson County

Location: From Edna take  US Hwy 59 North, turn right onto CR 414, 1 mile to entrance of land fill.

Hours: Tuesday thru Saturday, 9 a.m.-5:30 p.m.

Jackson County Transfer Station and Recycling Center in Edna

  • Newspapers, magazines and catalogs
  • White office paper with only black ink, computer paper, green bar paper and blue bar paper
  • Corrugated cardboard
  • Motor oil, oil filters, antifreeze, and automotive batteries
  • Tires: passenger car tires, $.05/lb or $1.00 ea., pickup truck tires, $5.50 each, varied fees for off-the-road vehicles and agricultural tires.

Lavaca County - Hallettsville

Location: From Hallettsville, take Highway 90 Alternate East, turn left onto County Road 2314, and then right onto county Road 201 to landfill entrance

Hours: Monday thru Friday, 9 a.m.- 6 p.m., Saturdays, 9 a.m. to 12 noon

Hallettsville Transfer Station and Recycling Center

  • Corrugated cardboard
  • Motor oil, oil filters (25 cents ea.), antifreeze, and automotive batteries
  • Tires: passenger car tires 15" or less, $1.15 ea.
  • Clear, brown and green glass
  • Aluminum cans, rinsed
  • Steel/tin cans, rinsed
  • Wire, $15 per cu. yd.
  • Appliances, tagged that freon has been removed, $5, untagged, $25.
  • HDPE#2 - Colored plastic bottles narrow neck only
  • PETE#1 - Clear and colored soda bottles narrow neck only. Remove caps, labels okay.

Yoakum

Location: Recycle Center is on 1400 block of Dunn Street
There is one citizen drop-off site at the Community Center

Hours: Monday thru Friday, 8:30 a.m.- 4:30 p.m, Saturdays, 8 a.m. to noon
