The Public Safety Department is responsible for a wide-range of activities designed to improve the quality of life at the community level.

Overview
The Public Safety division helps coordinate regional efforts that support everyday safety, emergency readiness, and long-term resilience across the Golden Crescent. Working alongside local jurisdictions, first responders, and partner agencies, the division supports planning, communication, and resource-sharing so communities are better prepared to prevent, respond to, and recover from incidents.

Criminal Justice Sub-Committee (CJSC)
About
The CJSC serves the Regional Public Safety Advisory Committee as a multi-sector collaborative working group. Members of this committee are volunteer individuals and subject matter experts who have a working knowledge of Criminal Justice, Victims Assistance, and Mental Health within the Golden Crescent Region.
No single group or discipline may constitute more than one-third (1/3) of the CJSC Members. Requests for membership will require approval.

- To advise the RPSAC on all public safety programs and policy matters pertaining to the planning, coordination, and development of public safety projects

- To perform regional or area-wide review and comment on proposed Public Safety Communications programs and projects as may be required by State and Federal laws and local agreements with public and private organizations.
- To ensure that regional public safety funding is utilized in an effective and efficient manner consistent with regional needs.
Members of The Regional Public Safety Advisory Committee

Voting members consist of four representatives appointed from each county (Calhoun, De Witt, Goliad, Gonzales, Jackson, Lavaca, Victoria), and one representative from primary stakeholder organizations (Gulf Bend, ROSC, Mid-Coast Family Services, Norma's House, The Harbor, Hope of South Texas, Victoria College, Region 3, STRAC). - Non-Voting Members
Non-voting members include those from the Public Safety Emergency Communications Sub-Committee, Homeland Security Sub-Committee, Regional Interoperable Communications Working Group, and Criminal Justice Sub-Committee. They are encouraged but not obligated to attend RPSAC meetings.
